A core competency training curriculum for First Nations child welfare prevention workers.
Becoming an Ally: Culturally Safe Child Welfare Practice with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Families in Ontario
A cultural awareness training program for child welfare workers and professionals serving Indigenous children and families.
HEART and SPIRIT: Indigenous Family Development and Assessment
A culturally-based alternative to the PRIDE and SAFE for Indigenous children and families.
Indigenous New Worker Training
Deeply rooted in Indigenous worldviews, this training will prepare Indigenous child protection workers to provide culturally congruent services. Under development with anticipated roll out in spring 2020.
Prevention Worker Training
This training is designed to equip prevention workers with the tools necessary to create and deliver community-based prevention programs using a holistic, Indigenous approach. Under development with anticipated roll out in autumn 2019.
ANCFSAO has developed and delivered specialized cultural competency training to governments working with the Indigenous child welfare sector for the purposes of supporting those governments to come to a better understanding of Indigenous child welfare perspectives.
An Exploratory Regional Study on Child Welfare Outcomes in Aboriginal Communities
An exploratory study conducted in partnership between the Faculty of Social Work of the University of Manitoba, the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society of Canada (FNCFS), the Association of Native Child and Family Service Agencies of Ontario (ANCFSAO), and 4 mandated Indigenous Child and Family Service Agencies within the Province of Ontario.
